One of the most high-profile races was for High Point Mayor. This comes after the current mayor, Jay Wagner, announced he will run for Congress next year. In Tuesday’s elections, four people were hoping to take his place, however, only two candidates are moving forward. Cyril Jefferson and Victor Jones are the winners. Jefferson had 2,815 votes and Jones had 1,896 votes. Voters also cast ballots for the High Point “At-Large” City Council Seats. Four candidates will be moving on to the general election. This includes Britt Moore, Amanda Cook, Willie Davis and Sam Carr. High Point is also looking for someone to take over its City Council Ward One seat. Vickie McKiver and Glenn Romero Chavis will be moving on to the next round. The rest of the ballot was full of open city council seats across the Piedmont Triad. Main. Capes only won the race 54 to 52. Voters also cast ballots for the two open seats for Burlington City Council. Dejuana Bigelow, Incumbent Bob Ward, Charlies Beasley and Celo Faucette are moving on.Two seats are open in Bermuda Run. Those candidates advancing are Rae Nelson, Jeff Tedder, Rod Guthrie and Marty Wilson. Polls show only 8.24% of eligible voters cast a ballot on Tuesday.

One of the most high-profile races was for High Point Mayor. This comes after the current mayor, Jay Wagner, announced he will run for Congress next year.

In Tuesday’s elections, four people were hoping to take his place, however, only two candidates are moving forward.
