Stratton golf wraps up at Air Force Academy – The Burlington Record

The area golf season officially came to a close last Monday with Stratton competing in the Titan Scramble at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

The Eagles were part of a large field on the Eisenhower Blue Course for the event that was hosted by The Classical Academy.

Stratton was represented by the quartet of seniors Fisher Schillig, Rustin Williams, and Jarrod Gibbons, along with sophomore Ricky Schillig. The Eagles shot a 1-under-par 35 on the front nine, recording birdies on No. 2 (429-yard par four) and No. 9 (557-yard par five) and a bogey on No. 5 (556-yard par five).

On the back nine, the group birdied No. 11 (541-yard par five) and No. 12 (389-yard par four) to card a round of 3-under-par 69. They were part of a four-way tie for 20th place in the field of 32 teams. Aspen, Arapahoe, and Evergreen rounded out the tie.

Valor Christian shot a 12-under 60 to win the title by one shot over Air Academy.

Stratton will lose seven total seniors out of the program. Joining Fisher Schillig, Rustin Williams, and Jarrod Gibbons are junior varsity competitors Austin Harvie, Jose Gallardo, Brock Mills, and Simon Rehor. The Eagles will have Ricky Schillig and Jaxon Einspahr back next season.
