Martin Lee “Marty” Pattison

Dr. Martin Lee “Marty” Pattison passed away on September 23, 2023 after a lengthy illness.

He was born October 20, 1943 in Garnet, Kansas to Martin “Pat” and Ruby Pattison. He attended Warren Easton High School in New Orleans, graduating in 1961 and attended Kansas State University. He received his Ph.D. in endocrinology and reproductive physiology in 1974, and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1979. He began his career as a veterinarian at Sun Valley Animal Hospital when the family moved to Roswell in 1980.

Marty is survived by his wife, Cheryle, his son, Dr. Chris Pattison and wife Shelly, daughter Dr. Monta Pattison, grandsons Brayden and Jarred Pattison, and twin sisters, Jean Divelbiss of Scottsdale, AZ, and Joan Oppermann of Houston, TX.

Marty loved his job and the animals (and owners) he served. He was a member of the Chaves County Veterinary Medical Association and the New Mexico Veterinary Medical Association, serving as president two separate times. He was an active supporter and member of the Roswell Rotary Club.

Marty was an avid golfer and sportsman, participating in numerous golf tournaments and enjoyed supporting both Roswell High and Goddard High school sports. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, often serving as a greeter. Marty was born again and led a fulfilling Christian life. Marty donated his body to Texas Tech University School of Medicine Willed Body Program.

Marty’s celebration of life service will be at First Baptist Church, 500 N. Pennsylvania Ave, on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Second Chance Global Ministries, P.O.
