Lady Cougars’ season ends against Wiley – The Burlington Record

The Burlington Lady Cougars’ 2023 softball season came to a close this past Saturday with a non-league doubleheader loss at home to Wiley, 13-0 and 21-1.

The Lady Cougars ended the season with an overall record of 3-15 and 0-6 in the 3A Lower Platte League.

Senior Paola Lujan ended her Burlington career going 4-for-4 in the two games combined. She also stole two bases.

Lujan led the Lady Cougars in several offensive categories this season, including batting average (.581), hits (25), slugging percentage (.674), on-base percentage (.667) and stolen bases (28).

Senior Lauren Hays collected three hits in the doubleheader to end her Lady Cougars career.

League leader Limon travels to Wray/Yuma Thursday, Oct. 5 for a doubleheader. One victory will give the Lady Badgers the league championship.
