Burlington coming to Tuscaloosa, hiring dozens of employees

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) – The space that once belonged to an anchor store in one Tuscaloosa shopping center won’t stay empty for much longer as a major clothing store has set a time frame to move into the location where Bed Bath & Beyond used to be.

Burlington plans to move into the location in the Shoppes at Legacy Park Shopping Center sometime this fall.

Although the company has not given a specific opening date yet, work is underway inside the building.

Burlington is a national discount retailer selling ladies apparel and accessories, menswear, items for kids and babies, home décor, pet care and toys according to a press release.

A company spokesperson says that Burlington plans to hire 65 people to work in the store.

That’s good news to Tuscaloosa City Councilman Kip Tyner, whose district includes the shopping center Burlington is moving into.

“Everyone is a little skittish over the economy. So, there’s not a lot of building from the ground up,” Tyner said. “But in this location, they didn’t have to do that. Of course, there’s already major renovations going on to fit their look. So, we’re stoked.”

The Tuscaloosa location will be Burlington’s thirteenth store in Alabama.
